John D. Cobb
JOHN D. COBB is an Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer of Ventas, Inc., an S&P 500 company and real estate investment trust that owns approximately 1,200 healthcare, life science and senior living properties in North America and the United Kingdom and serves as the primary capital provider to leading healthcare companies.
As a member of the Ventas executive leadership team, Cobb is responsible for the Company’s extensive acquisition, disposition and investment strategy across multiple healthcare sectors including seniors housing, life science & innovation centers, medical office buildings and hospitals. At Ventas, Cobb has facilitated more than $30 billion in accretive mergers and acquisitions while cultivating critical long-term relationships with best-in-care providers and research institutions. He has built an experienced team of 25 tenured investment professionals with a well-earned reputation of using creativity and innovation to execute deals.
Cobb joined Ventas in 2010 after serving as President and Chief Executive Officer at Senior Lifestyle Corporation, a 9,000+ unit retirement company. He spent much of his formative career at General Electric (GE) with roles of increasing responsibility, rising to Senior Managing Director at GE Healthcare where he increased their healthcare real estate portfolio to $10bn in assets.
Cobb serves as a member of the Executive Board of the American Seniors Housing Association (ASHA), the premier source for research, conferences and advocacy for seniors housing. He also serves on the Board of the Geneva Lake Conservancy, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of open space, ecology and history, working with landowners and government officials to advocate private and public land use and management decisions that assure responsible growth and protection of natural and historic resources.
A Florida native, Cobb holds a B.A. in finance from Lehigh University in Pennsylvania. He is married with one daughter.
